Early Monday morning on August 4th I got a call from Maranda informing that her water had broken and she was officially in labor. Immediately, I collected all my camera gear and headed to the hospital. From early on in her pregnancy Maranda decided she wanted me not only to document her pregnancy with maternity photos but to shoot the live birth of her first baby as well. I was so honored to be there and experience such a miraculous event. Maranda gave birth 100% natural; no pain killers, no epidural, nothing. Just good old fashioned pushing. She was so calm and collected through the entire labor. All the movies you see where women are screaming and begging for drugs was completely false in Maranda's case. After a whole night of intense labor she finally gave birth to a healthy 8lb 7oz baby boy. Baby Andrew was 21 inches long and came out with a full head of black hair. I swear I have never seen a baby with so much hair before. He is the spitting image of his daddy. Below is a slideshow of the event (we will call it the Cliffs Notes version). Any of the more graphic shots have been removed so I promise there is nothing to fear. Maranda, James and Baby AJ... I love you all and thank you so much for allowing me to experience this beautiful event with you.

Hurricane Fay?
So scattered somewhere between Michael Phelps winning gold and Michael Phelps setting new world records there has been a tropical storm brewing out in the Caribbean Sea. Brad found out about this a few days ago and overnight morphed into a full fledged hurricanologist. Being a Tennessee boy he has never experienced the thrill of anticipating a big storm here in Florida before. Since finding out about Tropical Storm Fay he has been tracking her every 15 minutes it seems just to see where the projected path is and just how strong they think the winds could be when they reach our area. He got extra excited when he heard that she could reach category 1 strength winds by landfall. He has even taken to leaving me voicemails to update me on the storm's progress. Thanks babe, glad to know you're on top of things. Apparently the real meteorologists are anticipating Miss Fay's arrival in the Jacksonville area sometime on Wednesday... this is the storm's current projections:
...and here is where I'm pretty sure Brad will be until Friday afternoon when Fay checks out of Casa de Florida:
Good thinking babe with the bike helmet... we wouldn't want anything happening to that cute little noggin of yours.
You know you're a Floridian if you hear there is a hurricane coming and its anything less than a category 3 you really don't alter your plans. My FL peeps understand. Brad will be busy buying out all of the bottled water and canned goods at Publix this week, so if you get a hankering for some canned green beans or tuna, stop on by, I'm sure we will have plenty to go around.

Girls Night OUT!
Sunday night I had the opportunity to go out to dinner and enjoy the company of a fantastic group of local female photographers here in Jacksonville. We wined and dined on the tasty Middle Eastern cuisine from The Casbah restaurant in Avondale. All topped off with hours of getting to know each other girl talk. It was so much fun and I do hope nights like this will become a regular occurrence here in Jacksonville. Thanks ladies for joining me; I had a blast and I will get to work planning our next shin dig! :)

Mike & Brooke's Steamy San Marco Session
Last week Brad and I shot this smokin' hot session with Mike and Brooke around our home and down in San Marco. They were completely open to ideas so we decided why not do a night shoot. The idea seemed to really suit these two and reflect their dramatic personalities. I love how all the photos turned out and reflect just how passionate Mike and Brooke are about each other. Here are some of our favorites from the session.
PS: Mike is an Engineer, and Brooke is an Environmental Scientist... living proof that smart is SEXY!
Pretty hot huh?! If I didn't know better I'd say these two have some Latin spice in their genes.
