A couple of weeks ago we rented a ring flash for a fashion shoot we did down in Orlando. We ended up never using it and before I sent it back I really wanted to play around with it some. I had the chance to shoot with the lovely Megan McDearman and use the ring flash before bidding it adieu. Sonia Garza did an awesome job with the hair and makeup. It was so much fun to create some dramatic headshots and play with a new lighting technique. Here are some favorites from our shoot.
I just love this adorable family. Sheldon & DeAngela are two of the sweetest people I know and their little guy Nick is so cute you could just eat him with a spoon. DeAngela contacted me way back in the summer when she first learned she was expecting her second baby. She wanted to book a maternity session but also incorporate her boys into the shoot. We had an awesome time shooting this hybrid maternity/family session and showcasing DeAngela’s cute little baby bump. Have you ever seen a family look so good? What a rockin’ mom to wear those heels too. DeAngela makes pregnancy look smokin’ hot!
Below are some of our favorites from the day. I love all the golden sunlight in the second series of images.
Thanks DeAngela and Sheldon for being such perfect subjects to capture.
Lots of love to you and your family!
Happy Holidays!
Mel & Brad
PS: I’d like to give a special thank you to our sweet friend Star for coming along to shoot with us and help me with my gear. I shot this session while still on crutches and it was a blessing to have Star along to help out.
It was a freezing cold Sunday morning when we met up with Simina & Steve to shoot their engagement photos. We decided to shoot in downtown St. Augustine early in the morning before they had to fly out that afternoon. They were in town only a few days to finalize wedding plans and we were so excited to finally meet them face to face. So many of our couples book us without ever meeting in person so its always an exciting time when we actually get to meet face to face. Simina & Steve live in New York City and planned their February wedding to be in a location a bit warmer than the blistering cold of a NY winter. Unfortunately the day we shot their engagement session was one of those rare cold mornings here in Florida that made them feel a bit like they were back home in the city. In spite of the chill in the air we all had an awesome time traipsing around the quiet streets of St. Augustine shooting their session. The best part of shooting early in St. Augustine is the feeling of having the city all to ourselves. Normally we are dodging people and traffic while we shoot but at 8am, very few people are moving around so the streets were ours for the taking. I knew I liked Simina from the minute I talked to her on the phone. She has such a sweet and kind demeanor that it feels like I’ve known her for years. Steve is every bit as kind and fun as his beautiful fiance. Being with them is like being with old friends. It almost didn’t feel like we were working when we were shooting them… and that’s the way we like it! Here are a few of our favorites from their session.
Steve & Simina, we cannot wait for your Valentine’s Day wedding. We know it will be absolutely beautiful and we are so excited to see you both again soon!
Enjoy!
see I told you it was quiet in the mornings… not a soul in sight
All the way back in October, a long long time ago, this lovely couple became husband and wife. Ben & Michelle said their vows in front of family and friends on a chilly Sunday morning in Lawrenceville, GA. 550 Trackside was the perfect venue for the celebration, bringing a warm rustic charm to the event. We had an incredible time working with these two. We always seem to get the most laid back fun couples to work with and Ben and Michelle are no exception. When we showed up everyone was cool and calm, laughing and enjoying the moments leading up to the ceremony. Ben and Michelle had a touching first look where they had some private time to talk and love before the ceremony began. A trolley carried us and the wedding party to various parts of town so that we could take pictures. The ceremony was moving as the pastor shared personal stories about Ben & Michelle and sprinkled in bits of humor that clearly demonstrated the amazing friendship and love between Ben and Michelle. The reception was jumping from the minute the DJ played the first song and my favorite part was where Ben & Michelle toasted with glasses of milk as they cut their cake. It was truly a magical day for everyone involved.
Ben and Michelle, thank you so much for allowing us into your lives and letting us capture such beautiful memories for you guys. You are truly wonderful people and we know you will experience a lifetime of joy in eachother’s arms. I know your honeymoon in Boston was the perfect way to start your journey together as husband and wife.
We hope you enjoy these favorites from the wedding day. Be sure to catch the slideshow at the end. Its chock full of other goodies.
I love that Michelle’s bouquet was wrapped with a bit of fabric from her mother’s wedding dress. Such a touching way to celebrate her parent’s marriage.
I love this shot of Ben’s mother pinning his boutonniere on. She was so proud of him all day.
I just love the look on Michelle’s face here as she sees Ben for the first time.
I love this first dance shot of Brad’s. It captures the beautiful emotion and architecture all in one go.
These lovely little ladies were dancing machines. Oh to have half their energy!
This past weekend I dove back into shooting head first it seemed. It started with Jen & Bert’s gorgeous winter wedding at the Winterbourne Inn and Club Continental. The weather was chilly, the guests were cozy and the entire wedding party was absolutely incredible to work with. I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding to come back to. Here are a few sneak peeks from their wedding this past Saturday.
Jen was such a stunning bride
hello hotness!
Stay tuned for more posts coming soon from this weekend…
