Our Maternity Session

Two weeks ago this past Sunday I was sitting in my office prepping this blog to be posted all while timing contractions and getting ready for our baby boy Camden to make his way into the world. As Brad urged me to come downstairs to go to the hospital I remember telling him “just a few more minutes, let me get this blog ready.” That is truly the life of a photographer I think… just a few more minutes at the computer is all we ever need. Needless to say, I never did finish this post before our son was born. So here I am with a 16 day old beautiful baby boy in my arms and am just now sharing our maternity session with you all. Although late, I’m just happy to be posting some images from our lives. We so rarely get in front of the camera ourselves and our photographers truly did have their work cut out for them having us as subjects but we are so appreciative of Josh & Amber Ulmer of Ulmer Studios for capturing this incredible time in our lives. Carrying our baby boy in my womb was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I am so thankful to have these photos to remember that feeling by. Josh and Amber thank you so much for these images and capturing us as we anticipated our sweet little Camden making his way into our lives. Becoming parents has been more beautiful than either of us ever expected it could be and we are truly blessed by this little soul who is now part of our family. I will blog all about our little love bug very soon, but for now, here are our favorites from our maternity session this past October.

Also, I owe a huge thank you to my sweet friend Katie Russo and her team for doing my hair and makeup for this shoot and making me feel so lovely. You girls are incredible!

Rebekka & Manley’s Nashville Portrait Session | Nashville Lifestyle Photographers

All the way back in early March, Brad and I met up with one of the sweetest most adorable couples in all of Nashville to shoot an early morning portrait session out at Percey Priest Lake.  Rebekka is a tremendously talented illustrator here in town who painted our home portrait for us seen here.  I instantly fell in love with her work and after reading her blog fell in love with her and her sweet hubby Manley as well.  We were so honored to have the opportunity to photograph these two and their session has quickly become one of my favorites.  They have such a comfortable manner in front of the camera and I absolutely love how they just light up when they are in each others arms.  Rebekka’s smile is absolutely infectious and we honestly could have photographed these two for hours on end.  We had the honor of working with these guys a few more times this year and can’t wait to share those photos with you all as well but for now, enjoy their lovely little lakeside portrait session.

Rebekka & Manley, thank you for letting us into your world.  We absolutely adore you two.

**Fun fact – this is the same location where Brad and I had our own maternity photos taken back in October.  I’ll be blogging some of our favorites from that session soon too!**

Chris & Lauren’s Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island Wedding | Destination Wedding Photographers

Chris & Lauren planned the most spectacular Fall destination wedding and we were so lucky to have played a part.  Their ceremony took place on the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island ocean lawn overlooking the Atlantic on a gorgeous Fall day in early November.  Their decor had gilded pumpkins, hints of the 1920′s and a nod to the Great Gatsby era all mixed perfectly together.  This adorable couple from New York City left their home just days after hurricane Sandy shook up the northeast.  Although Lauren was worried that guests would not be able to attend due to the devastation in their home states she stayed optimistic.  Luckily for them love conquers all and guests from all over were able to make it to their Florida destination wedding in spite of the travel delays and chaos that was associated with the super storm.  It just goes to show how truly loved she and Chris are by so many that nothing, not even a hurricane, could keep their friends and family from being by their side as these two committed their lives to one another.  Brad and I were so honored to be a part of this beautiful event and it was truly a glorious wedding to end our 2012 season with.

Lauren & Chris, thank you so much for welcoming us into your world and allowing us to tell your story.  You are a one of a kind couple that are truly cut from the same cloth and it has been a joy to know you both.  We can’t wait to share all the images with you in a few weeks.  Until then, we hope you enjoy these favorites of ours.

Lots of love,

Mel & Brad

Kim & Andriy’s Cummer Museum Wedding Preview | Jacksonville Wedding Photographers

It was the weekend that hurricane Sandy was sweeping past the coast of Florida on it’s way to wreaking havoc on states further north.  We were flying in to shoot Kim & Andriy’s wedding unsure of what would be waiting for us when we arrived in Jacksonville.  We heard numerous news reports of high winds and crazy rain expected and were crossing our fingers the whole time hoping that this beautiful garden wedding would still go on without a hitch.  Lucky for all of us hurricane Sandy kept her distance from the Florida coast and although there was wind and overcast skies we really didn’t see much of her at all at this beautiful wedding.  The clouds kept temperatures cool and the afternoon wedding went on perfectly with the guests gathering in the Italian garden at Jacksonville’s Cummer Museum of Art along the St. John’s River.  It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony where these two could profess their love and devotion to one another in front of friends and family from near and far.  We loved the art deco theme that Kim planned for the day and all the lovely gold and black details she incorporated into the reception.  It was an elegant and stunning event that was filled with Ukrainian tradition, tears of joy and lots of love.

Kim & Andriy, we have so many more lovely images in store for you two.  For now though we hope you enjoy this little preview of what is yet to come.  Congratulations to you both and it has been an absolute pleasure documenting your love story.

Lots of love,

Mel & Brad
