There is nothing quite like a wedding that takes place at locations with deep roots in a couple’s history. This beautiful spring affair began in the homes that the Karen and Matt grew up in, continued to their lifelong church and ended in a huge affair at the yacht club where Matt had asked Karen to be his bride. Although these lovebirds are young, their love story has been in the making virtually all their lives. Karen & Matt met when they were just learning to spell their names and count to ten. They both attended preschool at Ortega United Methodist Church where Karen’s mother taught and served in the congregation. Karen attended OUMC her entire life and it only made sense considering it was just steps away from her front door. She and Matt grew up together, always friends, always connected in one way or another but it wasn’t until high school that their feelings grew beyond friendship. What started as long days on the playground turned into late evenings holding hands and growing closer than ever.
From the minute we arrived and began shooting there was truly something magical about this wedding. This day had been in the works for decades and at last it was time to make it all official. Both Karen and Matt’s childhood homes were buzzing with excitement. There were tears of joy, laughter, pups and kitties, basketball, cornhole, friends, family and pieces of memorabilia scattered about all filling the air with memories new and old. It was truly the perfect day and place for a wedding. Naturally Karen and Matt chose to have their ceremony in the church where they spent so much of their lives and afterwards they took a short trolley ride to the Florida Yacht Club where Matt had asked Karen for her hand on the shore of the St. John’s River. The ceremony was heartfelt and members of Matt’s band played a special song for as these two pledged their love to one another. The party at the yacht club was incredible. Live music, delicious food, crystal clear skies and a group that clearly came with their dancing shoes on. All night long the party roared under the stars of the Florida night sky. We loved every minute of this wedding and adore Karen & Matt and their entire family. It was such an amazing experience getting to know all of these people over the past year and we are blessed because of it. We had way too many favorites images to share, so this blog post is very large. We hope you enjoy looking as much as we did capturing it all.
Karen & Matt… you guys are phenomenal. You are a perfect match and perfect for a bicycle built for two. You work together seamlessly. We hope married life is more than you ever expected.
Lots of love!
